November 26 & 27, 2024
Structure and Activities
The two-day event brought together five teams of two MSCA PhD researchers, accompanied by their supervisors, hosted by the University of Sheffield, a project partner in the CASCADE network. This gathering served as the first opportunity for the research team to meet in person, fostering connections essential to a thriving research collaboration. The camp offered the newly recruited CASCADE ESRs the first opportunity to meet with their peer researchers on the project, with the overarching objective of fostering the connection between them having been successfully realised, and the foundations laid for productive collaboration across the life of the project.
Training Camp 1 Programme Format
This training camp consisted of two different types of activities:
- Introductions, whereby supervisors will outline their CASCADE-related research
interests, and ESRs will present their initial PhD ideas (as presented at interview),
followed by discussion. - Group working, whereby ESRs will work on group discussion tasks in order to a) learn
more about one another and b) identify common questions that they wish to raise with
the network leaders.
The purpose of this training camp is to:
● Introduce ESRs and supervisors from across the network;
● Learn about each others’ research;
● Understand the requirements of the CASCADE doctoral network;
● Ask questions (about anything);
● And enjoy!
